St Chad's Learning Zone
History Lesson Plans - Produced by Sue Wavell (Kirkby CE Primary School)
There has been a church on St Chad's site for over 1100 years. It features in the Doomesday Book and the font that stands at the back of the current Victorian church was made before the Norman conquest.
St Chad's Chapel.
It's stones were used to make the walls of the current church.
Consequently there is an abundance of historical topics that can be covered by a visit to St Chad's. The following are ideas for at least two lessons per year group relating to Units in the QCA Scheme of work.
Year 2 - Units 4 & 20 Famous people from the past
Year 4 - Units 8 Tudors & 6b Normans and Saxons

Year 6 - What can we learn about recent history
